Evelyn Marsh

September 26, 2010 — August 9, 2010

Evelyn Marsh will be celebrating her 100th birthday in heaven. Gathered around her flower laden table will be those loved ones who have preceded her in death: her parents, Pete and Gustie Issenfdorf; her husbands: Elmer Wiebusch and Keith Marsh; six siblings and their spouses: Irene (Jack) Gerken, Laura (Herman) Orbke, Ed (Lottie) Issendorf, Ann (Ludwig) Schmidt, Esther (Jake) Kluge; an infant brother; two sons-in-law, Donald Alms and Bill O'Brien; and one great-great-grandson, Adam Harding.

Sending loving birthday wishes will be those who mourn her loss: her "two beautiful daughters", Marlys Alms of Red Wing and Marcene O'Brien-Myrman of Chippewa Falls, WI; twelve grandchildren: Carol (Gene) Weid, Bonnie (Bob) Harding, Bob (Mary) Alms, Steve (Yvonne) Alms, Randy (Jacklyn) Alms, Michael (Beth) O'Brien, Patrick (Barbra) O'Brien, Erin O'Brien, Timothy (Stacey) O'Brien, Daniel (Elizabeth) O'Brien, Mary (Doug) Ricci and Kevin (Sally) O'Brien; twenty great-grandchildren, nineteen great-great-grandchildren; and a host of friends from Jordan Towers.

Evelyn was born to Peter and Augusta Issendorf in Wheaton, Minnesota on September 26, 1910. She was united in marriage to Elmer Wiebusch in 1929 in Zumbro Falls, Minnesota. In 1941, the family, which now included their two daughters, moved to Red Wing. In 1954, a visit to California prompted her decision to remain in the sunshine where she could raise beautiful flowers year round. This "visit" was to last 32 years. She moved back to Red Wing after the death of her second husband, Keith Marsh.

In her younger years, Evelyn's cooking skills were employed at several local restaurants. She loved to craft and sew. Many of her baby quilts are lovingly enjoyed by the grand, great-grand and great-great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at St. John's Lutheran Church on Thursday, August 12, 2010, at 2 p.m. Pallbearers will be Evelyn's great grandchildren, Jennifer Steiner, Chris Weid, Jeff Harding, Mike Harding, Andy Alms, Amy Stenlund, Nathan Alms and Nicholas Alms. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials may be designated to St. John's Lutheran Church or St. Brigid's at Hi-Park Care Center where Evelyn has been lovingly cared for over the past five years. Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel is handling arrangements.
