Evelyn "Evie" Joyce Larson, 89, of Red Wing, died peacefully, Sunday, January 14, 2018, at her home, after a very brief battle with cancer. Evie was born January 26, 1928, in Iron Mountain, Michigan, to Paul and Clara (Manke) Fayas Sr. Her family lived in several different places while she was growing up. In 1955, Evie married Robert Burkart, and they lived in Milwaukee prior to moving to Red Wing in 1968. Robert died in 1974, and following his death she started working for Red Wing Shoe Company and retired from there after 20 years of service. It was a job she truly enjoyed. On February 4, 1980, Evie married Orville Larson and they were married for 33 years when he passed away in 2013. Evie enjoyed patching her grandkids clothing, sewing, and was well known for her tapioca pudding.
Evie is survived by her daughter, Karen (Chuck) Peterson of Red Wing; step daughters, Karen (David) Buschow of Brooklyn Park and Jacque (Rev. Ralph) Simmons of Yuma, Arizona; step son, Bradley Larson of Minneapolis; grandchildren, David (Carrie) Peterson, Derrick (Megan) Peterson; step grandchildren, Ruth (Stephen) Malez, Robert Buschow, Julynn Simmons, Rev. Rollen (Annette) Simmons, Rev. Ryan (Christa) Simmons, Ross (Melissa) Simmons, Merete Larson, and Kjellan (Brian) Ellis; great grandchildren, Jake, Aaron, Dalaney, Brayden, Addison; step great grandchildren, Justyn, Jordan, Alec, Abby, Audrey, Rachel, Justin, Taylor; step great great grandchild, Colette; sisters, Doris Gruell of Kingsford, Michigan, Joyce (Howard) Stenerson of Red Wing, Carol (Henry) Gardinen of Alburtis, Pennsylvania; brother, Paul Fayas Jr.; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends

Funeral service at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 20, 2018, at CrossRoad Community Church in Ellsworth, Wisconsin with Rev. Matthew Anderson officiating. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. A luncheon will follow the service and then burial will be at Burnside Cemetery in Red Wing.
