OBITUARY
Evelyn Mildred (Rokke) Hoven passed away on Friday, March 4, 2016 at the age of 89, in Zumbrota, MN. Born January 28, 1927 to Oscar and Sadie (Satrum) Rokke in Forest Mills, MN.
She was raised on the family farm and spoke only Norwegian until attending Country School District 130 in Forest Mills.
Evelyn was united in marriage to Lester (Bud) Hoven on October 29, 1948 at United Lutheran Church in Zumbrota. They were blessed with 7 children. Evelyn was a loving mother and a wonderful homemaker. After Bud died, she enjoyed a 14-year career at Zumbrota Dairy Queen. She also enjoyed crafting and was especially proud of her pinecone wreaths. She treasured time spent with family and friends. She drew great strength from her faith in God, and will be remembered for her generous spirit. Evelyn was loved by many and will be missed by all.
Evelyn is survived by six of her children. Daughters: Louise of Los Angeles, Martha (Blaine Schacht) of Rochester. Sons: Les (Karen) of Oklahoma City and their children Matthew (Natalie), Jordan, Thea (Sean) Gomez; Scott (Sara) and their children Ian, Reed, and Brenna; Keith (Wendy); and Bruce, all of Zumbrota. Great-grandchildren: Caleb, Iris, Viola; Sister-in-law Nancy Rokke, Brother-in-law Gaylen Hoven; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Brent, and siblings Edith (infant), Maurice, Fran, and Paul.
Funeral services will take place at United Redeemer Lutheran Church on Wednesday, March 9 at 2:00 PM, with Reverend Dr. Marggi Pleiss-Sippola officiating. Visitation will be held for one hour before the service. Interment will be held at Zumbrota Cemetery.
