Evelyn C. Freiheit, 97, of Lake City passed away Thursday, January 26, 2017 at her home at The Villa, St. Crispin in Red Wing, Minnesota where she has resided since 2009. Evelyn was born on December 11, 1919 in Chester Township to Charles and Alice (Duden) Holst.
On February 14, 1939, she married Louis Freiheit at Evangelical United Brethren Church in Hammond, Minnesota. To this union were born Lavern (Marilyn) of Red Wing, Larry (Karen) of Clinton, Missouri, and Lee (Kay) of Zimmerman, Minnesota. Evelyn and Louis farmed in Wabasha and Goodhue Co. until April 1969. She was a hard worker on the farm. They then purchased Sherburne Country Mobile Home Park in Princeton, Minnesota. She enjoyed mowing grass, planting flowers, embroidery, bowling, and always having a clean car.
Evelyn is survived by three sons, grandchildren, Troy (Diane), Heidi (Tim Anderson), Stacy (Scott Olson), Kirk (Kelli), and Kristy (Ryan Donavan); by six great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. Also surviving is a brother-in-law, Forrest "Bud" (Elva Mae) Freiheit and friends of the family, Darlene (Phil) Griffith, and Lori (Dan) Sandberg, and her precious cat, Isabelle.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Louis Paul Freiheit; one daughter, Judy; and one sister and best friend, Violet Holst; a brother Clifford Mickow.
A funeral service will be Wednesday, February 1st at 1:00 p.m. at United Methodist Church in Lake City with Reverend Phillip Schmidt officiating. Burial will be at Lakewood Cemetery in Lake City. Visitation is one hour prior to the service at the church. Mahn Family Funeral Home Anderson-Peterson Chapel is handling funeral arrangements.
