Evelyn Ecklund, 92, passed away on Sunday September 24, 2023 at the Lake City Care Center.
Evelyn was born on December 25, 1930 to Joseph & Anna (Kinrod) Geronime in Burnside, MN. The family moved to Red Wing when she was 2 ½ years old. Evelyn attended St. Joseph’s Catholic Grad School for 8 years and graduated in 1944. She went on the Red Wing Central High School and graduated with the class of 1948. She started working parttime at Red Wing Pottery before she graduated from high school. After graduating, she became a fulltime employee and worked till 1951 in the Hand Painting Department. She married her husband Llewellyn in December 16, 1950 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Red Wing. Evelyn and her husband moved to Lake City in 1953, where they raised 7 children. Evelyn enjoyed walking, shopping, embroidery, sewing crafts and being in craft sales, along with sewing quilts for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved spending time with her family & cheering the local sports teams along with being a fan of the Minnesota Twins and Vikings. She enjoyed and loved all her pets. She always quoted “laugh a lot and you’ll live long.” It must be true as she died at 92.
Evelyn is survived by her daughters, Vicky (John) Breidel of Mims FL, Debra (Don) Stokes of Red Wing, MN, Valerie (Charlie) Lichtblau of Mims Fl; her sons, Jeff (Donna) Ecklund of Lake City, Jay (Donna Warren) Ecklund of Lake City; 11 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Llewellyn; her parents Joseph and Anna Kinrod; her son, Gregory Ecklund; her daughter and husband Linda and Curt Lichtblau; 2 infant great granddaughters; brothers, Donald & Roland Geronime, sisters, JoAnn Weikert and Marcy Kilner.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 12, 2023 at 11 am at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Anderson – Peterson Chapel of Lake City with Deacon David Dose presiding. Visitation will be 1 hour before the service. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Lake City. Online condolences maybe left online at www. mahnfamilyfuneralhome.com
