Evelyn Astrid Duncan, 89, of Red Wing, died Sunday, May 4, 2008 at St. Brigid's at Hi-Park. She was born April 14, 1919 in Minneapolis to Ernest and Astrid Lindstrom. She attended Eden Prairie High School and later went on to two years of Business College. On July 27, 1940 she married Clarence Carlson in Cresco, IA. They lived in Welch where they farmed and she worked at the Vasa Creamery. Clarence died January 28, 1969. Evelyn moved to the Twin Cities where she worked as a bookkeeper for a paper company. She married Ray Duncan and they moved out to Montana. After his death she moved back to Welch. Since October 2007 she has resided at St. Brigid's at Hi-Park. Evelyn enjoyed gardening, canning, and animals especially cats and dogs.
She is survived by three children, Harlow (Karen) Carlson of Hastings, Judith Carlson of Welch, and Ivan Carlson of Welch; three brothers, Lloyd (Evelyn) Lindstrom of Bloomington, Bob Lindstrom of Garrison, MN, and Ernest Lindstrom of Garrison, MN; one sister, Doris Larson of Milaca, MN; several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by two husbands; sister, Blanch Martinson; and an infant son.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday, at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel, with Reverend Bob Albing officiating. Burial will be at Cross of Christ Church Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
