Evelyn Anna Lore Baer, 93, of Red Wing, died Saturday, August 6, 2011 at St. Brigid's at Hi-Park. She was born July 14, 1918, in Belvidere Township to Claus and Emma (Hoeft) Fitschen. She attended rural schools. On November 22, 1945 she was married to Alvin Baer in Frontenac. She was employed in the Red Wing and Lake City areas. Alvin died on August 8, 1997. For the past 5 years she has resided at St. Brigid's at Hi-Park. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Frontenac. Evelyn enjoyed baking, music, playing cards, especially king's corner, and reading.

Survivors include one daughter, Emalyn (Ronald) Geppert of Mankato; one daughter-in-law, Betty Baer of Mazeppa; two grandsons, Andrew (Kristen) Geppert of Blaine and Jeremy (Gretchen) Geppert of St. Peter; two great grandsons Kevin Geppert and Jared Geppert both of Blaine and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one son, LeRoy; one brother, Elmer Fitschen and two sisters, Henrietta Peterman and Lorena Eppen.


Funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday, August 11, 2011 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Frontenac with Reverend Christopher Hoppe officiating. Burial will be in the Oakwood Cemetery in Red Wing. Pallbeares will be Andrew Geppert, Jeremy Geppert, Kermith Eppen, Kenneth Peterman, Gordon Fitschen and Emery Fitschen. Honorary pallbearers will be Ralph Fitschen and LuVerne Peterman. Visitation will be 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday, August 10, 2011 at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel and for one hour prior to the service at church. Memorials are preferred to donor's choice.
