Eva Jane Henry was born September 28, 1914, in Foley, MN, to Peter and Agnes (Caughey) Henry. Eva was the oldest of four children and grew up on the family farm in Foley. She graduated from High School in 1932. Eva lived with her cousin while attending college and graduated from Marshall University in Huntington, WV, in 1935. She moved back to MN and obtained her teaching degree from State Teachers College in St Cloud, MN, in 1937.
Eva started her teaching career in Dawson, MN and taught in various MN locations. She met Everett Ohr while teaching in Red Wing and married him July 12, 1947. In the next 5 years, they adopted two children, Stuart and Jane. After having children, Eva continued teaching as a substitute teacher in the Wanamingo area. She was their favorite substitute teacher and many stories are still around town of those days. Eva was very active in Trinity Lutheran Church, involved in church circles for many years. She was a leader in boy scouts and girl scouts and played bridge with a local bridge group.
In Wanamingo, the Ohr home was a regular gathering place for their friends. Their door was always open, everyone was welcome and something delicious was always cooking on the stove. After retirement and raising her children, she spent time with her family, grandchildren, and friends. She moved from the Ohr family home in 1996 to Heritage Hill, where she lived for 14 years. February 26, 2010, Eva moved to the Kenyon Sunset Home where she lived for seven and a half months until her death.
