Eunice Diercks

Eunice Mae Diercks, age 78, of Red Wing, died Tuesday, February 14, 2012 at Methodist Hospital in Rochester. She was born October 31, 1933 in Winona, Minnesota, the daughter of Henry and Frieda (Benck) Jacobs. She graduated from Winona High School in 1951 then attended Winona General Nurses Training, graduating in 1952. On February 13, 1954 she married Neil Diercks at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Goodview, Minnesota. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Red Wing, where she sang in the choir and served funeral committee. She volunteered her time at the voting precincts and the Red Cross Bloodmobile. She was an excellent seamstress, making many clothes for her family. She also enjoyed traveling with Neil.

She is survived by her husband Neil; three children, Wayne (Jean) Diercks of Thurmont, Maryland, Jayne (Ed) Pompeian of Rochester, Minnesota, and Jean (Rick) Lee of Sandy, Oregon; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and one brother, Henry (Elaine) Jacobs of Lewiston, Minnesota. She is preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Robert.

Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, February 18, 2012 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Red Wing with Pastor Todd Engel officiating. Burial will be at Burnside Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Friday, February 17, 2012 at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel and for one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
