Eugene Carl Plank

Eugene Plank age 71 of Lake City passed away Saturday September 3, 2011 at home after battling pancreatic cancer.
Eugene was born on March 30, 1940 in Wabasha to Herbert and Delores (Eastman) Plank. He was baptized on May 26, 1946 at Our Redeemer Church in Wabasha. He attended rural schools in the Lake City area. On July 17, 1965 he married Carol Dehning in Eitzen, MN at the United Church of Christ. They made their home in Lake City and Eugene worked at Federal Mogul for 45 years. After retiring, Eugene worked at the Marina. He enjoyed doing lawn care and snow removal. Eugene was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, the Lake City Sportsman Club, and Local Boilmakers Union 650. He enjoyed fishing, camping, spending time with children, working, and having coffee and rolls at the Galley.
Eugene is survived by his wife, Carol; daughter, Pam (Jerome) Fontem of Lake City: 8 sisters, Lois Beaham, Nancy O'Flaherty, Elaine (Charlie) Halpaus, Dorothy Blattner, Shirley Meincke, Sharon (Robert) Henning, Kathy Roberts of Lake City, Charlotte Plank of Northfield; five brothers, Raymond Plank, John (Janet) Plank of Lake City, Francis Plank of Kasson, Jim Plank of Manorville, Ronnie (Sue) Plank of Northfield; sister in-law Marilyn Plank of Lake City. He was preceded in death by his parents, infant twins, two sisters, Ellen Mae Plank, Virginia Henning and two brothers, Marvin and Kenneth Plank.
A Funeral Service will be held Wednesday at 2:00 PM at St. John's Lutheran Church in Lake City with Rev. Daniel Kroll officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5 to 8 at the Mahn Family Funeral Home Anderson-Peterson Chapel Lake City. Friends may also call one hour before the service at the church.
