Eugene Erie

Eugene Robert Erie, 70, of Red Wing, died Wednesday, November 16, 2016, at the Red Wing Health Care Community. He was born on May 4, 1946 in Faribault to Raymond and Edna (Hoseth) Erie. He attended schools in Cannon Falls and graduated from Wanamingo High School in 1964. On May 8, 1965 he married Susan Hanson and they later divorced. He worked at Red Wing Shoe Company, the Goodhue County Highway Department, Unique Electronics and IRC. He lived in Oregon and Nebraska for many years before moving back to Red Wing in April of this year. He was a member of the Red Men Club and in his early years enjoyed playing horseshoes, hunting, fishing, golfing and horseback riding. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching NASCAR.

Survivors include two sons, Robert (JoAnn) Erie of Kenyon and David (Melody Nauman) Erie of Hager City; three grandchildren, Grace (fiancé Forrest Kunkel) Erie, Eric (Elizabeth) Erie and Lucas Erie; four siblings, Ruth Ann (Clifford) Nelson of Wanamingo, Charles (Martha) Erie of Vasa, Dianne (Charlie) Dashow of Dundas and Joanne (Ronald) Lindholm of Cannon Falls and many nieces, nephews and his special friends in Nebraska. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, John and Andrew.

Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Monday, November 21, 2016 at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel with Reverend Lynn Rigg officiating. Burial will be in the Vasa Cemetery. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.mahnfamilyfuneralhome.com.
