Esther Skorude

Esther Skorude, 94, of Red Wing, died Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2011 at the Red Wing Health Center. She was born August 12, 1917, in Hay Creek Township, the daughter of Frederick and Mary (Miller) Buck. She grew up and attended school in Hay Creek Township. On March 17, 1943, she was united in marriage to Peter Skorude at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Hay Creek. He died August 3, 1993. Esther was a member of United Lutheran Church and had enjoyed putting together jigsaw puzzles, flowers, canning, walking and visiting with her friends and family.

She is survived by four children, Fred Skorude of Grays Lake, Illinois, Tom Skorude of Red Wing, Scott (Terry) Skorude of Hager City and Mary Ann (Thomas) Ogden of Red Wing; five grandchildren, Jeff Ogden, Cicely (Phil) Jensen, Allison (Peter) Seidl, Sarah (Thomas) Hedeen, Matthew (Amanda) Skorude and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Peter and numerous brothers and sisters.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday, at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel with Reverend Randall Johnson officiating. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service. Memorials preferred to United Lutheran Church.
