Esther Eveline Buck, 94, of Maplewood, formerly of the Downtown Plaza in Red Wing, died Friday, December 30, 2011 at Cerenity Care Center in White Bear Lake. She was born December 13, 1917 in Mazeppa, Minnesota to Adolph and Marie (Reinholz) Kuehn. She grew up in rural Mazeppa and graduated from Mazeppa High School. On August 20, 1941 she married LuVern Mathias Buck in Winona. LuVern died June 30, 1998. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and a past member of the Ladies Guild. She worked for Spurgeons and JC Penny in Red Wing. She enjoyed fishing, playing cards, cooking, and baking.
She is survived by children, Kay (Arlo) Stack of Maplewood, Minnesota, Russell (Barb) Buck of Lake George, Minnesota, and Richard (Margie) Buck of Dothan, Alabama; nine grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; sister Laura Kulzer of Rochester, Minnesota; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; two brothers, Albert and Gerhardt Kuehn; and two sisters, Alfrieda Fuglie and Clara Schumacher.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Red Wing, with Reverend Loren Lucht officiating. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Online condolences may be sent at www.mahnfamilyfuneral.com
