Ernest (Tony) Eugene Anthony, 89, of Lake City, MN passed away Tuesday, October 2, 2018. He was born on May 13, 1929 to Carl and Vera (Scott) Anthony in Kokomo, IN.

Tony married Phyllis Ann Brundage December 5, 1948 in Lehigh, IA where he also attended school. Tony was in the Navy and ran the boilers on a ship out of San Francisco, CA. Tony and Phyllis moved to Austin, MN in 1983, and in 1995 they made their home in Lake City, MN. Tony owned the Texaco gas station and Laundromat in Lehigh while working at IBP. He also worked at the Lehigh Sewer Pipe for years and retired from Hormel Foods in 1987. Tony's passion was racing stock cars for 13 years with family and friends cheering him on. He is in the Fort Dodge Hall of Fame for Race Car Drivers. Tony loved to draw pictures and was still drawing in his hospital bed the day before he passed away. Tony enjoyed working on cars, inventing ways to fix/change things, wood working, going to craft sales, camping and boating, and in the last few years, playing Bingo. Most of all he enjoyed telling stories and spending time with his children, grandchildren and friends.

Tony is survived by his children, Michael Shawn (Becky) Anthony of Des Moines, IA, Kimberly Shane (Mike) Liljevall of Lake City, MN; five grandchildren, Zac Anthony, Reagon (Spencer) Worthington, Brad (Jamie) Anthony, Sarah (Mike) Burbach and Indy (Brittany) Liljevall; four great grandchildren, Maddy Anthony, Anthony Burbach, Mitchell and Zoey Liljevall; brother-in-law, Jim (Joan) Brundage and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis Anthony; grandson, Marcus; mother and father, Carl and Vera; grandparents, Harry Scott and Clara (Powell) Echelberger; sister, Viva Mae Anthony; and sisters-in-law, Garnet (Lavern) Hansen and Betty (Bud) Brueland.

Celebration of Life will be held at the Lehigh, IA Senior Citizen Center on Saturday, November 3, 2018 from 12pm - 2pm.

Arrangements are entrusted to Mahn Family Funeral Home Anderson-Peterson Chapel, Lake City.
