Erma I. Hoffman age 94 of Lake City, formerly of Goodhue died on Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at the Lake City Hospital, Mayo Health Systems. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2012 at 11:00 AM at St. Luke Lutheran Church in Goodhue with Reverend Wayne Radke officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 13, 2012 from 4:00 - 7:00 PM at the Mahn Family Funeral Home - Larson Chapel in Zumbrota and on Saturday one hour prior to the service at the church.
Erma Ida Holm was born on August 27, 1917 in the Spring Garden area of Leon Township, Goodhue Co., MN to Carl and Esther (nee Leyon) Holm. She grew up on the family farm and attended country school. On October 19, 1935 she married Raymond Hoffman at Spring Garden Lutheran Church. They made their home in rural Goodhue, where they farmed until retiring in 1972. After retiring from farming, Erma worked for Deden's Café in Goodhue. Erma enjoyed playing bingo and cards, horses, dogs, cooking, gardening, going for car rides and spending time with her grandchildren. Erma was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church. Erma is survived by her grandchildren, Barb Carsten of Scottsdale, AZ, Tim (Kathi) Hoffman of Zumbrota, Diann LaFond of Goodhue and Gail Davis of Lake City; daughter-in-law, Geri Hoffman of Lake City; step grandchildren, Frank Adler, Dale (Kim) Adler and Gigi (Mike) Miller; twelve great-grandchildren; sixteen great-great-grandchildren and former daughter-in-law, Sylvia Hoffman. Erma was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond, son, Roger; grandson, Kim Carsten; sister, Audrey Berg, brother, Virgil Holm and her parents.
