Erik Daniel Lewis, aka Midnight F. Cottonwood, 27, of Red Wing, died Sunday, July 7, 2019.
He was born in Red Wing to Dan and Sheila (Wagner) Lewis on October 3, 1991. He graduated from Red Wing High School in 2010. He attended the University of San Diego in California. He made his home in California where he was working toward fulfilling his dream of becoming a screenwriter.
Erik loved movies and could tell you every detail about every Oscar-winning movie. He'd see five movies on a typical week.
Erik was larger than life. If you even spent just a few minutes with him, you were friends for life. His friends and family meant everything to him. He never forgot birthdays, anniversaries or any other special detail about a person. More than anything else, he loved being "Uncle Erik."
He will be missed by many, including his parents; Sheila (Lu) Taylor of Welch; Dan (Lori) Lewis of Red Wing; siblings, Brittany (Jason) Fechner of Milwaukee, Erin Pugh of Red Wing, Samantha (Nick) Erickson of Blaine, Ellie Taylor of Red Wing and Cole Jacobson of Welch; two nephews, Ayce Solis and Cameron Erickson; grandparents, Elaine Olson of New Hope, Jarrett Lewis of Mankato, Elda Obenauer of Pierre, SD and Carol Taylor of Welch; Nana and Papa, Del and Lynda Stankey, and Stacie Stankey of Red Wing; many best friends as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins.
He is already talking a mile a minute catching up on stories with his Grandma Pat, Grandpa Clayton and cousin Kiley in heaven.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m., Friday, July 12, 2019 at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel, Red Wing.
Memorial service will be 11 a.m., Saturday, July 13, 2019 at Red Wing High School, Hovda Hall. There will also be visitation at the high school one hour before the service.
