Emory J. Tomforde age 81 of Lake City died Sunday March 5, 2006 at the Lake City Hospital. Emory was born January 5, 1925 in Mount Pleasant Township to Louis & Christina (Roschen) Tomforde. He grew up in Mount Pleasant Township and attended grade school at the Howatt School district #99 of Wabasha County. Emory married Marie Hinck January 31, 1945 at St. Peter?s Belvidere Lutheran Church. They lived and farmed in Florence Township for a short time after they were married. In 1958 they moved to Hay Creek Township in Wabasha County were he continued farming. He milked cows for over 50 years. Emory retired and moved to Lake City in 1983. He was a member of St. Peter Belvidere Lutheran church where he held many church offices and was a Sunday School Teacher. He also served on the Hay Creek Township Board and Farm Bureau. He currently was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Lake City. He enjoyed wood working, fishing and making stain glass. He is survived by his wife; three sons Richard (Heidi) of Star Prairie, WI, Robert (Marilyn) of Lake City, Lyle (Helen) of Frontenac; seven grandchildren; six great grandchildren; one brother Arnold of Lake city; one sister Irma (Robert) Dose-Burfeind of Lake City. He was preceded in death by one son David, two sisters LuVonna Lichtblau, Henrietta Howatt and one brother William. Funeral services will be Friday at 11:00 a.m. at Bethany Lutheran Church in Lake City with the Reverend Bruce Stam officiating. Burial will be in St. John?s Cemetery in Lake City. Visitation will be Thursday from 5 to 8 at the Mahn Family Funeral Home Anderson-Peterson Chapel Lake City. Friends may also call one hour before the services at the church.
