Elsie D. Wandmacher (nee Schlichting), found peace on Monday May 16, 2011. Elsie was born August 12, 1918, in Mount Pleasant Township, the daughter of Diedrick and Fredricka (Quell) Schlichting. Elsie was united in marriage to Harold Wandmacher October 12, 1940, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Red Wing. Harold died in July 1956. Elsie lived most of her life in Hager City, Wisconsin. She worked in the Red Wing High School cafeteria for 26 years, was active in St. Paul's Lutheran Church, and volunteered in 4-H and at the Red Wing Health Center.
Elsie is survived by her three sons: Gary (Mary) of Prescott, Wisconsin, Wayne (Susan) of Champlin, Minnesota, and Curtis (Vickie) of Ellsworth, Wisconsin; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Elsie was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; six brothers: Alvin, Harry, Lorance, Elmer, Ray, and Dick Schlichting; and her sister Sophie Klenke.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 21, 2011, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Red Wing with Reverend Kristen Schlauderaff officiating. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service at church. Private Burial will be at Trenton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to the Polycystic Kidney Disease Foundation, the American Diabetes Association, and Trenton Cemetery.
