Elsie Mae Lersch

Elsie Mae Lersch, 96, of Red Wing, died Friday, April 12, 2013, at the Seminary Home. She was born July 23, 1916, in Red Wing, to Louis and Agnes (Anderson) Larson and graduated from Red Wing Central High School in 1935. On March 5, 1936, she married Werner Lersch, and they lived in Red Wing. She worked as a cook in the Red Wing Central High School cafeteria and catered weddings, anniversaries and special parties for many years. Throughout the years, she collected enough quality recipes to self-publish her own cookbook with the assistance of her daughter, Beverly. Elsie Mae was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church where she had taught Sunday school, served on the church council, and was past president of the LCW. She also organized the Seminary Home Auxiliary.
Elsie is survived by 2 daughters, Beverly (Lawrence) Longsdorf of Ft. Mojave, AZ and Nancy Lersch of Madison, WI; 2 sons, Richard (Ramona) Lersch of South Yarmouth, MA and Robert Lersch of East Stroudsburg, PA; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchild, and a brother, Neal (Betty) Larson of Red Wing, MN.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Werner; brother, Harry Larson; half-sister, Lorraine Wolden; grandson, Grant Longsdorf and great-grandson, Nicholas Van Scoy.
Funeral service will be Sunday, April 21, 2013 at 2 PM at St. Paul's Lutheran Church with Reverend Kristen Schlauderaff officiating. Visitation will be Saturday, April 20, 2013 from 4 PM to 6 PM at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel and for one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials preferred to the church.
