Elona has gone home to be with her Lord. Elona Caye Franciskovich, 73, of Red Wing, quietly passed away in her sleep, at her home, in the presence of her husband, Bill. She was born in Spring Grove, Minn. on June 10, 1943 to Glennys and Arilene (Engen) Tollefsrud. She graduated from Spring Grove High School in 1961. She later attended the Minneapolis School of Business for one year. She entered the two year Radiology program at the Minnesota General Hospital School of Radiology, graduating in 1964. She worked at the hospital for a short time. She was later employed at Gunderson-Lutheran Clinic in LaCrosse, Wis., until 1973. She moved to Red Wing in 1973 and worked at St. John's/Fairview Hospital as a manager of the Radiology Department until she retired in 2009.
She married Larry Waterman and they later divorced. On March 13, 1981 she married Bill Franciskovich at First Covenant Church in Red Wing. She was an active member of First Covenant Church since 1981, serving on various boards and committees. She also taught Sunday school, sang in the choir and was active in the Wednesday night Awana program. She had a passion for missions and missionaries, especially those in Africa. She also volunteered time at the Care Clinic in Red Wing and Connecting Connections. When she wasn't busy, she enjoyed gardening, reading and knitting.
She is survived by her husband, Bill; two children, Wren (Tony) Palmer of Avoca, NY and Mark (Stephanie) Waterman of Altus, Okla.; eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She is also survived by five siblings, Thomas (Kathryn) Tollefsrud of Spring Grove, Ann Zilly of Spring Grove, Betty (Paul) Abbott of Jenks, Okla., Paul (Sandy) Tollefsrud of Harmony, Minn. and Mary Tollefsrud of Withee, Wis.; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 12, 2016 at First Covenant Church with Reverend Marc Eix officiating. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until the time of the service at the church on Saturday.
