Elmer Henry Voth, 91, of Red Wing, died Thursday, April 26, 2012 at Fairview Red Wing Medical Center. He was born January 11, 1921 in Red Wing, the son of Henry P. and Anna Marie (Dicke) Voth. He attended rural school in Featherstone Township and Immanuel Lutheran School. He married Bertha Berner on May 30, 1949 in McAllen, Texas. They were dairy farmers for many years in Featherstone Township and Elmer also worked at S. B. Foot Tannery. Bertha died May 30, 2010. He was a member of Concordia Lutheran where he served as the first president of the church council. He enjoyed watching sports and was an avid Minnesota Twins fan. He also enjoyed traveling and was always friendly and willing to help others.
Survivors include his seven children, Dean Voth of Red Wing, Wayne (Katherine) Voth of Lewiston, Donna (Skip) Baker of Red Wing, Kelvin (Barb) Voth of Red Wing, Gerald (Theresa) Voth of Elmwood, WI, Randy of Wabasha and Frank (Brenda) Voth of Red Wing; sixteen grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; three step great-grandchildren and one brother, Hubert (Audrey) Voth of Red Wing. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bertha; brothers: Raymond, Walter, Reuben, Roland, twin brothers Arthur & Arnold and sisters Lucille Horn and Pauline Cordes.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at Concordia Lutheran Church with Pastor Tyge Zucker officiating. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Monday at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel and for one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.
