Ellen Margaret Scharpen, 92, Ellsworth, died Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at Ellsworth Care Center. She was born August 4, 1918 in Goodhue Township, the daughter of Theodore and Clara (Johnson) Mann. She graduated from Red Wing Central High School in 1936 and she married Elmer Scharpen on October 1, 1938. They farmed in the Welch and Goodhue areas until moving to Pierce County in 1965 where Ellen resided until becoming a resident of the Ellsworth Care Center. She worked at Josten's for 23 years. Elmer died July 5, 1981. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and she enjoyed bingo, traveling and playing cards.
Survivors include one brother, Ralph (Pat) Mann of Goodhue; many nieces and nephews and special family friends, Doug and Gloria Stockwell of Beldenville. She was preceded in death by her husband.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday, April 15, 2011 at St. John's Lutheran Church with Reverend Todd Engel officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 - 8 p. m. Thursday, April 14, 2011at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel and on Friday for one hour prior to the service at the church.
