Elizabeth Bernice Trynor was born on September 30, 1940, to Horace and Margaret (Denbow) Trynor in Lubec, Maine. The family later moved to Boston, Massachusetts where Betty graduated from Boston High School. She later graduated from Boston City College with a business degree. She met her husband, David Brodhead, who was serving in the United States Coast Guard, and they were married on August 26, 1961, at the Baptist church in Newton, Massachusetts. Betty and David moved to Anoka, Minnesota where they managed the family farm and were blessed with four children. They later moved to a farm near Zumbrota (Roscoe Township) where they have lived together until Betty’s death. Betty was active as a farm wife and mother doing everything from tending the animals to helping in the fields. She loved to cook and bake. She was a brilliant bookkeeper, proofreader, and office manager. She cared for many people, including her parents and Carolyn, her sister with special needs. Betty loved sewing, knitting, cross stitch, reading, attending Bible study, and was well known for completing every crossword puzzle she ever started. Together with David, she loved music, especially gospel and blue grass and had a beautiful singing voice. She loved and served her entire family with her whole heart.
Betty is survived by her husband of 61 years: David of Zumbrota, three daughters: Vona (Gene) Murrell of Rochester, MN, Marilyn (Cliff) Marolt of Rochester, MN, Joy (Dan) Teed of Seabrook, TX and one son: Mark (Micki) Brodhead of Cedar Falls, IA. She is further survived by 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and one expected great-grandchild, several nieces and nephews, cousins and many dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Horace and Margaret Trynor and two sisters: Vona Louise Trynor and Carolyn Margaret Trynor.
