Elizabeth Ann Skeba, 84, of Red Wing, died Sunday, November 17, 2013, at the Seminary Home. She was born on July 6, 1929, in San Francisco, CA, to Howard and Florence (Hoover) Hoyt. She graduated in 1947 from East Aurora, Illinois High School and then attended Aurora University, graduating in 1951 with a degree in elementary education. On June 9, 1951, she was married to Philip Skeba. They lived in Bloomington, Illinois before moving to Minneapolis, where she taught in Richfield. In 1975, they moved to Red Wing where she worked at St. John's Hospital in the business office. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday school and sang in the choir. She was on the administrative board of OES holding many offices, League of Women's Voters, General Federated Women's Club and Friends of the Library. She also volunteered for the Hospital Auxiliary and home hospice.
Survivors include one daughter, Valerie Skeba of Burbank, CA; one son, Kirk (Cherise) Skeba of Fremont, CA and one sister, Florence "Ellen" (Thomas) Neupert of Bristol, IL. She was preceded in death by her husband, Philip William Skeba; parents; one brother, Harold Hoyt and a sister, Marjorie Hewitt.
A celebration of life will be held from 3:30-5:30 p.m. on Monday, November 18, 2013, at the Seminary Home Chapel in Red Wing. A private family service will be held at a later date. Burial will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
