Elizabeth "Betty" Mikkelson, 97, of Minneapolis and formerly of Red Wing, died Monday at her home. She was born November 10, 1910 in Duluth to Ole and Christine (Knutson) Tormoen. She graduated from Proctor High School and then St. Luke's Hospital School in Duluth, where she worked upon graduating. She married Oscar Mikkelson on June 28, 1932. Oscar was a minister, and this led them to different cities and congregations. From 1932-52 they were at Trinity Lutheran Church in Spring Grove; from 1952-62 at First Lutheran Church in Northwood, Iowa, and at Lutheran Service Center in Tachikawa, Japan from 1962-65. They moved to Red Wing in 1967 and she worked at the Seminary Home until retiring. Oscar died December 24, 1990. She was a member of United Lutheran Church and she enjoyed watching football and baseball and being with her family--especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by three children, Priscilla (Roy) Moore of St. Louis, MO, Joan Campbell of Mpls., and David Mikkelson of York, PA; 6 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; great-granddaughter, Claire Marie Schneider; 5 brothers and 3 sisters.
Memorials preffered to United Lutheran Church or Fairview Hospice.
