A memorial service for Elizabeth "Betty" Liffrig will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Mazeppa with Rev. Robert G. Meyer officiating. Burial will be in the Church Cemetery. Mrs. Liffrig, age 72, of Mazeppa died on Tuesday, August 1, 2006 at her residence after a lengthy illness. Elizabeth Anne Halling was born March 5, 1934 in Lake City, MN to Edward W. and Margaret M. (Callaghan) Halling. She attended the Red Bridge School in Rural Mazeppa and graduated from Mazeppa High School in 1951. After graduating she worked at Mazeppa High School doing secretarial work and the Mazeppa Farmers Co-op Dairy. On Dec. 23, 1952 she married Daniel J. Liffrig in Mazeppa at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. In later years she worked at the Zumbrota - Mazeppa Middle School as a Teacher's Aide and also enjoyed working with the elderly doing Home Health Care. She was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church and enjoyed riding her bike, sewing, playing cards, bowling, raising her six children and spending time with her grandchildren. Survivors include her husband; two daughters Jenny (Mark) Darcy of Mazeppa; and Melissa (Alan) Van De Walker of Zumbro Falls; four sons Michael (Pat) and Lawrence (Denise) both of Mazeppa; David (Janel) of Lake City; and Steven (Anella) of Mazeppa; fourteen grandchildren; and her brother James "Jim" (Jean) Halling of Zumbrota. Her parents preceded her in death. Memorials are suggested to a charity of the donor?s choice. Friends may call one hour prior to the service Thursday at the Church.
