Elizabeth "Betty" Eggenberger

Elizabeth (Betty) L. Eggenberger age 92, of Wake Forest, NC passed away Tuesday, August 21, 2018, at Carillon Assisted Living, Wake Forest, NC.
Betty was born September 28, 1925 in Lake City to George and Mabel Elwood. She grew up in Lake City and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1943. She graduated from Winona State Teachers College and taught school for several years. Betty married Virgil Eggenberger on June 30, 1951 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Lake City. Betty and Virgil moved to Durham, NC in 1965 and then to Boca Raton, FL in 1968. They moved back to Lake City in 1987 to enjoy their retirement. In 2015 Betty moved to Raleigh, NC to be near her family there. Betty was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Lake City. She enjoyed playing cards, golfing, baking, and more than anything, spending time with her family, who cherished her.
Betty is survived by her children, Jon of Montgomery, TX, Jay (Lisa) of Raleigh, NC, Jan (Terry) of Jupiter, FL and Jodi Eggenberger of Plymouth, MN; nine grandchildren, Jenna (Scott) Rogers, Jonathan and Jill Eggenberger, Amy (Jason) Harmon, Adam (Amelia) Eggenberger, Jaime (Reginald) Bellanton, Jessica, Justin, and Jordan Eggenberger, and five great grandchildren, Oliver, Maven, Claire, Eleanor, and Kendall.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Virgil, her parents, George and Mabel Elwood, her sister, Kate Domke, and one great grandchild, Noah Joseph Rogers.
The family would like to thank the Staff at Carillon Assisted Living, Wake Forest, NC for their care and support of Betty over the last 2 years, and Kindred Hospice Care for their care and support during the last 2 months.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, August 29, 2018 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Lake City with Reverend Nathan Cordes officiating. Burial will take place at Lakewood Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at church. Mahn Family Funeral Home, Anderson-Peterson Chapel is handling the arrangements.
