Elizabeth "Betty" Ann Bollman, age 88, of Rochester, died Tuesday (Mar. 11, 2014) at her home, Shorewood Place, in Rochester.
Elizabeth Ann Wooldridge was born June 19, 1925 in Rochester to C.H. and Gertrude (Kiefer) Wooldridge. Betty graduated from Stewartville High School in 1943 where she was involved in sports, band, and choir, and where she was honored for perfect attendance from kindergarten through high school graduation. She then attended Rochester Junior College and the University of Minnesota. On Sept. 3, 1948 she married Jesse Bollman, Jr. in Rochester. The couple moved to Ames, IA where she worked for Iowa State College in the Botany Department while her husband attended college. The couple then moved to Rochester where Betty worked for the Mayo Clinic as a desk supervisor in Orthopedics for 10 years. She later worked for the Rochester Post Bulletin, a local bookstore and Woodside Nursing Home. Her husband, Jesse, owned and operated Bollman Opticians at Crossroads Shopping Center for many years. Betty and Jesse spent many happy years at their cabin near Birchwood, Wisconsin, where they enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Betty was a member of Christ United Methodist Church. She was an avid sports fan, and especially enjoyed tennis and basketball. She enjoyed playing duplicate bridge for many years and earned the rank of Life Master. Betty and Jesse enjoyed their last years at Shorewood Place where they made many friends.
Survivors include her daughter, Suzanne Bollman (Mark Anderson) of Ramsey, MN and their children Alex and Grant; her son Jeff (Patty) Bollman of Fond Du Lac, WI and their children Tim and Dan; great-granddaughter, Clementine; and, her sister, Audrey Dunham of Tucson, AZ. Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday (Mar. 22, 2014) at Mahn Family
Funeral Home - Rochester Chapel with Rev. Nancy Wheeler Handlon of Christ United Methodist Church officiating. Friends may call one hour before the service on Saturday. A luncheon reception will be held following the service. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.
