Elizabeth Marie Benrud, age 22, of Goodhue, died Friday, July 27, 2007 in Duluth, after an accidental fall. She was born on January 3, 1985, in Lake City, Minnesota, to Bruce and Becky (Balow) Benrud. She was confirmed on October 31, 1999, at St. Luke's Lutheran Church. She graduated with honors in 2003 from Goodhue High School where she was active in band, choir, National Honor Society, Future Leaders of America, volleyball, 4-H and loved babysitting. In May of 2007, she graduated cum laude from the University of Minnesota- Duluth with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education. She had spent a semester studying abroad in New Zealand and planned to student teach in Ireland in this fall. She was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church and enjoyed spending time with family and friends, traveling, hiking, canoeing, kayaking, camping and attending Minnesota Twins Baseball games.

Survivors include her parents, Bruce and Becky of Goodhue; her brother, Brad Benrud of Goodhue; her sister, Molly Benrud of Goodhue; paternal grandmother, Audrey Benrud of Goodhue; maternal grandparents, Eugene and Alvina Balow of Red Wing; special friend, Carlin Jackson-Page of Duluth and many aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Lester Benrud; and maternal grandmother, Mary Lou Balow.

Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 31, 2007 at St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Goodhue with Reverend Michael Gustafson officiating. Burial will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery, rural Goodhue. Pallbearers will be Nick Dudley, Travis Danckwart, Brady, Tyler, Will, Chris and Andy Balow. Honorary pallbearers will be Beth's friends from Goodhue and Duluth. Visitation will be Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. and on Tuesday for one hour prior to the service all at the church. Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel is handling arrangements.
