OBITUARY: Elisabeth Lomen
Funeral services for Elisabeth Lomen will be at 10:30 am on Saturday, June 30, 2007 at Lands Lutheran Church in Zumbrota. Reverend Luther Peterson and Reverend Walter Johnson will co-officiate. Karen Heimer, organist, and Connie Rude, soloist, will provide the music. Casketbearers will be grandchildren: Brad Drenckhahn, Brian Drenckhahn, Tracy Ramsay, Gordon Ramsay, Eric J. Lomen and Amber Lomen. Burial will follow in Lands Lutheran Church Cemetery.
Elisabeth Lomen, age 89, of Zumbrota died on Tuesday, June 26, 2007 at the Zumbrota Nursing Home. She was born Elisabeth Eckhoff on January 10, 1918 in Valdres, Norway to Trygve and Sigrid (Winsnes) Eckhoff. Elisabeth attended and graduated from high school in Norway before studying home economics for two years. On June 13, 1941, she married Einar Lomen in Valdres, Norway and following their marriage the couple lived in Lomen, Valdres, Norway. They moved to America in 1947, where they farmed in Goodhue County, rural Zumbrota. Einar died on June 23, 2003. She was a member of Lands Lutheran Church, the Kristiania #47 Lodge of the Sons of Norway in Rochester, the Valdres Samband, Zumbro River Fiber Arts Guild, and the TOPS Club. She enjoyed gardening, was a weaver and a rosemaler.
Elisabeth is survived by one son, Eric (Diana) Lomen, of St. Paul, MN; one daughter, Marit Lomen, of Zumbrota, MN; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters: Bekka Abry and Tora Eckhoff, both of Oslo, Norway; one brother, Tias (Janicke) Eckhoff, of Valdres, Norway. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and one brother, Torstein.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, June 29, 2007 at Mahn Family Funeral Home Larson Chapel in Zumbrota and one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.
