Eleanor Schlichting

Eleanor Johanna Schlichting, 85, of Hager City, died Sunday, April 5, 2009, at Hennepin County Medical Center. She was born on December 28, 1923, in Red Wing to Sefanias and Nina (Fredrickson) Bremseth. She graduated from Red Wing High School. On June 26, 1946 she was married to Lorance Schlichting. They lived in Red Wing for a short time and then moved to Hager City where they farmed. Eleanor worked for the Red Wing Shoe Company for many years and also for Vieths Store and Bar in Hager City. Lorance died on December 10, 1996, She was a member of United Lutheran Church, Bay City American Legion Auxiliary and the "lunch bunch" group. She was an avid bowler and enjoyed crocheting and playing games. Her family remembers her love for her grandchildren and great grandchildren and her cooking, especially chicken and dumplings.

Survivors include two children, Janet (Tom) Hendrickson of Hager City and Robert (Jolene) Schlichting of Hager City; four grandchildren, Nathan (Barb) Schlichting of Goodhue, Jennifer Schlichting of Red Wing, Drew (Tiffany) Schlichting of Red Wing and Amanda Hendrickson of Golden Valley; two great grandchildren, Jenna Schlichting and Cameron Schlichting; three step-grandchildren, Jason (Jodi) Omundson of Roland, Iowa, Corinna Omundson (Steve Yee) of Hastings and Travis (Jing) Williams of Farmington; five step-great grandchildren, Natalie Omundson, Samuel Omundson and Nick Turner and Jake and Jerica Staehli and one sister, Verneil (Jim) Thomas of Hastings along with many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Funeral will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at United Lutheran Church with Rev. Steve Timm officiating. Burial will be in the Trenton Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandchildren and their spouses and honorary pallbearers will be her step grandchildren and their spouses. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel and at the church for one hour prior to the service.
