Eleanor Ingeborg Peterson, 96, Red Wing, died Thursday, March 17, 2011 at Valentine's Assisted Living in Red Wing. She was born September 21, 1914 in Cannon Falls, MN, the daughter of Nels and Alma Victoria (Lundin) Johnson.
She attended school near the Belle Creek area. She married Fred A. Peterson in August, 1932. They farmed in the White Rock area and moved to Red Wing in 1945. Fred died in 1952. She married Willis Peterson on July 3, 1954 and they lived in Ladysmith, WI for 13 years and then lived in Winona. Willis died in 1989. Eleanor returned to Red Wing and lived at Jordan Towers for several years before moving into Valentine's Assisted Living. She was a member of First Lutheran Church and she enjoyed quilting and playing cards.
Survivors include two sons: Fredrick (Alberta) Peterson of Butte Des Morts, WI and Elroy (Gloria) Peterson of Red Wing; one step-son, Kenneth (Yvonne) Peterson of Vienna, VA; one step-daughter, Marie Cordes of Minnetonka, MN; fourteen grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; three sisters: Lucille Peterson of Red Wing, Viola Jagusch of Omaha, NE and Regina Ryan of Richardson, TX and one brother, Norris Johnson of Cannon Falls. She was preceded in death by her two husbands; one brother, Willard Peterson and one granddaughter, Carolyn Peterson.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a. m. Tuesday, March 22, 2011 at First Lutheran Church with Reverend Brian Scott officiating. Burial will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials are preferred to the church or Fairview Red Wing Area Hospice. The family of Eleanor would like to thank the staff at Valentine's for their special, loving care. Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel is handling arrangements.
