Eleanor "Susie" Lohman, 99, of Red Wing, died Tuesday, January 21, 2014 at the Seminary Home, two days after celebrating her 99th birthday. She was born January 19, 1915 in Red Wing, the daughter of J. Emil and Selma Johnson. She grew up and attended school in Red Wing, graduating in 1933 from Red Wing Central High School. She attended a two year nursing school at Bethesda Hospital in St. Paul. On October 10, 1942, she married Edward Christenson in Red Wing. Edward died on January 28, 1963. Susie began working for the Viking Agency, where she worked for 9 years. On July 9, 1972, Susie married Milton Lohman. He died September 13, 1991. Susie was a lifetime member of First Lutheran Church, serving as the church organist and a faithful choir member for many years. In her spare time she enjoyed music, knitting, and having coffee parties with friends.
Susie is survived by two children, Thomas (Mary Ann) Christenson of Tallahassee, FL, and Janet (James) Withers of Gambrills, MD; two granddaughters, Elizabeth (Daniel) Straub and Terese Ahrens; two great-grandsons, Denver and Ivan Straub; and many loving nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by both of her husbands; twin infant sons, Jeremy and Johnathan Christenson; and one brother, Ivan Johnson of Red Wing.
Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 25, 2014 at First Lutheran Church. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the church or Lutheran Social Services. Funeral arrangements are by the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel.
