Eleanor May Knutson, 96, of Red Wing, passed away on Thursday, October 27, 2016 at St. Crispin Living Community. She was born Nov. 23, 1919 in Weston Twp., Wisconsin to Herman and Ida (Fuhrman) Moritz and attended Nippersink School. The family later moved to the Menomonie, Wisconsin area. She married Carl Knutson on June 4, 1948 at St. Paul's Church in Menomonie. They moved to Stillwater, MN before coming to Red Wing in 1954. Eleanor enjoyed gardening, cooking, sewing, her Tuesday morning coffee group and especially her family.
She is survived by her daughter, Adele Knutson of Bloomington; son, Gary (Ava) Knutson of Red Wing; granddaughters, Tyann Knutson and Teresa (Tyler) Rashid; 2 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Leroy and Erwin (Judi) Moritz; a sister-in-law and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl in 1992; her parents; 3 brothers; 3 sisters-n-law and one nephew.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2016, at Concordia Lutheran Church in Red Wing, with Rev. Tyge Zucker officiating. Burial will be at Burnside Cemetery. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials are preferred to the church or donor's choice. Arrangements handled by Mahn Family Funeral home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel.
