Eldora Lorraine Sears, 87, Bay City, died Sunday, January 8, 2012 at Valentine's Assisted Living. She was born September 10, 1924 in Red Wing, the daughter of William and Ella (Abbey) Schinke. She graduated from Red Wing High School in 1941 and worked at a telephone company from 1941 to 1945. She married Donald Sears on November 10, 1945. She enjoyed living in the country on the family farm for her entire life until entering Valentine's Assisted Living in September, 2011. Donald died October 2, 2011. She was hard working and devoted her life to raising her family. She enjoyed her solitude but traveled around the world with Donald in the 1980's. She was a member of Eidsvold Lutheran Church in Bay City.
Survivors include her four children: Joanne (Don) Davidson of Orono, MN, Dale (Kathy) and Gary (Deb) Sears all of Ellsworth and Kevin Sears of Bay City; six grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald and five siblings.
Funeral will be 11:30 a.m. Thursday, January 12, 2012 at Eidsvold Lutheran Church with Reverend Mary Eide officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials are preferred to Eidsvold Lutheran Church, the American Alzheimer's Association or donor's choice. The family would like to thank all the wonderful caregivers at Valentine's Assisted Living who treated Eldora with such kindness and dignity for the past four months.
