Elaine Pauline Katherine Roschen, age 79, of Red Wing, died Tuesday, July 3, 2007, at Methodist Hospital in Rochester. She was born on May 26, 1928, in Lake City, Minnesota, to Lawrence and Ida (Stehr) Schumann. She attended schools in Lake City. She married Dallas Roschen on December 10, 1943, in Lake City and they farmed in Oak Center and Belvidere Township prior to moving to a farm in Featherstone Township in 1953. They retired in 1979. Dallas died on September 15, 1991, and she moved to Red Wing in 1992. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Hay Creek, where she was active in the LWML; the Farm Bureau where she served as secretary; the Square Dance Federation where she served as an officer; and the Featherstone Prairie Belles project extension group. She was co-chairman of the 1998 Square Dance Convention and served as a 4 H leader. She enjoyed sewing square dance clothing, genealogy and her violets.

Survivors include two sons, Eugene of Red Wing and Robert (Jane) Roschen of Red Wing; one daughter, Phyllis (Darrel) Dammann of Tulsa, Oklahoma; son-in-law, Paul Nystuen of Red Wing; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-four great grandchildren; two brothers, Richard (Connie) Schumann of Lake City and Lawrence Schumann of Cleveland, Ohio; two sisters, Lucille Thermos of Red Wing and Marilyn (Scott) Peterson of Lake City; and many nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her husband; her parents; and her daughter, Ellen Nystuen.

Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Sunday, July 8, 2007, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Hay Creek, with Reverend Lowell Sorenson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 12 noon to 2 p.m. Sunday at the church. Urnbearer will be Zachery Nystuen. Honorary pallbearers will be Randall Nystuen, Mathew Nystuen, Bradley Roschen, Brian Roschen, Levi Roschen, Lucas Roschen and Darin Dammann. Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel is handling arrangements.
