Elaine M. Possehl

Elaine Marie Possehl, 81, of Lake City, died Sunday, April 4, 2010, at the Lake City Nursing Home Mayo Health System. She was born March 25, 1929 at her grandparent's home in Wells Creek, Goodhue County to Rudolph and Adelia (Holst) VonHelmst. Elaine was confirmed in 1941 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Lake City. She married Milton Possehl on June 4, 1949 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Lake City. They farmed in Hay Creek Township in Goodhue County until 2007 when she moved to the Lake City Nursing Home. Elaine was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church of West Florence where she was active in the Ladies Aid and taught Sunday School for many years. She enjoyed gardening, feeding birds, canning, baking, and bowling. She loved taking care of her grandchildren and working side-by-side with her husband on the farm.

Elaine is survived by her husband, Milton; two sons, Kevin Possehl of Lake City and Steve Possehl of Goodhue; two daughters, Judy (Don) Siewert of Frontenac and Denise (Rick) Landau of Old Frontenac; eight grandchildren; three step-grandchildren, and a sister, Sharon Perry of Lime Springs, Iowa. She is preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Shirley VonHelmst.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 7, 2010 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in West Florence with Reverend Christopher Hoppe officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Anderson-Peterson-Mahn Chapel, Lake City and one hour prior to the service at the church.
