OBITUARY: Elaine M. Ofstie
Elaine M. Ofstie, age 81, of Zumbrota died on Thursday, April 10, 2008 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester. Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, April 14, 2008 at 2 PM at United Redeemer Lutheran Church in Zumbrota with Reverend Tom Isaacson officiating. Burial will be in Zumbrota Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for Sunday, April 13, 2008 from 2-5 PM at the Mahn Family Funeral Home � Larson Chapel in Zumbrota and on Monday one hour prior to the service at the church.
Elaine Marie Gregory was born on September 13, 1926 in Minneola Township, Goodhue County, MN to William and Hilda J. (nee Groth) Gregory. She grew up in rural Zumbrota and attended country school. On February 22, 1946 she married Alton L. Ofstie in St. Paul Park. They lived in San Antonio, TX until Alton was discharged from the U.S. Army Air Corps. They returned to Zumbrota and in 1953 Elaine started working as a telephone operator for the Zumbrota Telephone Company. She worked for Zumbrota Telephone Company for twenty two years. In 1974 she started working as a housekeeper for the Zumbrota Nursing Home. She retired from the Nursing Home in 1996. Elaine was a member of United Redeemer Lutheran Church and enjoyed gardening, flowers and traveling. Elaine is survived by her son, Gary Ofstie of Zumbrota, four grandchildren, Troy (Bev) Ofstie of Kasson, Melissa (Darren) Meister of Pine Island, Jessica (Joe) Adams of West Concord and Amanda (Jason) Holst of Mazeppa and thirteen great grandchildren.
Elaine was preceded in death by her husband, Alton, son, Gregory, sister, Luella Lund and her parents.
The family suggests memorials to the United Redeemer Lutheran Church or donor's choice.
