Elaine Barbara Lemon, 83, of Red Wing, died Monday, June 6, 2011, at her home, surrounded by family. She was born Feb. 15, 1928 in Red Wing, to George and Edna (Carlson) Peterson and attended school in Red Wing. After her school years she worked at Red Wing Pottery, where she met her husband, Earl Lemon. They were married on Dec. 29, 1951. They lived in St. Paul, Red Wing, and Lake City before coming back to Red Wing in 1956. Elaine loved to spend time with her family and friends, as well as going for walks and working on crossword puzzles. One of her favorite pals was her dog, Tuffy. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
Elaine is survived by 3 children, Bruce (Shelia) Lemon of Eagle Mountain, UT, Sue Strausser of Roseville, CA and Nancy (George) Laqua of Welch; 12 grandchildren, Nikki, Steven, Breanna, Greg, George III, John, Ashley, Heidi, Clint, Mandy, Emily and Mike and 26 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Beverly; her parents; husband, Earl in 1998 and a daughter, Monica Lemon.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday, June 9, 2011 at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel with Reverend Kristen Schlauderaff officiating. Burial will be at St. John's Cemetery. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service. Memorials preferred to the American Cancer Society.
