Elaine F. Johnson

Elaine Frances Johnson, 86, of Red Wing, died Thursday, September 9, 2021 at her home surrounded by friends and family.

She was born August 27, 1935 in Red Wing to Floyd and Catherine (Geiger) Mehrkens. She grew up in Red Wing and graduated from Red Wing Central High School.

In 1956 she married Eugene Johnson and the couple had one son. Most of her working life was spent as a caregiver and homemaker. When she worked outside of the home she worked at the Red Wing Shoe, The Pantry and at St. John’s Hospital. She was a devoted Catholic and member of the Church of St. Joseph.

Elaine enjoyed fishing, playing cards and going to the casino with her friends. She was a beautiful person; funny, generous, kind, and a loving mother and grandmother.

She is survived by her son, Robert Johnson; grandchildren, Keith Johnson and Miranda (Jody) Bowen; great-grandson, Evan Johnson; and sister, Jean Ryan.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Johnson, and sister, Jeanette Hemmah.
