Elaine Delisle died peacefully Wednesday April 11, 2012 at Sunrise Cottages in Rochester. She was 89.
Elaine Joyce Lagessie was born August 22, 1922 in Merrill, Wisconsin to Alfred and Mary Ann Lagessie. She graduated from Merrill High School, and on December 9, 1942 Elaine married Robert Delisle in Wausau, Wisconsin. The couple moved to Rochester in 1947.
Throughout her career in retail, Elaine enjoyed working with the public, finding pleasure in her positions at both the Red Owl store, formerly located at Miracle Mile, and more recently at the JC Penney store from which she retired in 1998. She was an avid reader and crossword puzzle enthusiast. She enjoyed walking and her quiet time alone.
She is survived by her three sons, Peter (Beverly) of Rochester, David and Tom, both of St. Paul; three daughters, Rolaine of Ridgeway, Colorado, Heather of Minneapolis, and Alicia (Robert) Hogue of Eau Claire, Wisconsin; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Robert Lagessie of Syracuse, New York, and Lee Lagessie of Albuquerque, New Mexico. She was preceded in death by her husband. Robert Delisle; parents, and a brother.
A memorial visitation will be held Monday April 16th from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Rochester Chapel. Inurnment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis will occur at a later date.
