OBITUARY: Elaine H., Bjugan

Memorial service for Elaine H. Bjugan will be at 11AM on Tuesday, January 13, 2009 at Minneola Lutheran Church, 13628 County 50 Blvd., rural Goodhue with Pastor Sarah Nietz officiating. Honorary casketbearers will be her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Private burial of her cremains will be held at Zumbrota Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to Minneola Lutheran Church.

Elaine, age 82, of Wanamingo, died on Thursday, January 8, 2009 at Angel's Care Center in Cannon Falls. She was born Palma Elaine Harriet Kvalvog on October 24, 1926 in Wanamingo to Albert and Rachael (Husbyn) Kvalvog. She attended school and graduated from Wanamingo High School before moving to the Twin Cities, where she worked in the banking business. On September 23, 1950, Elaine married Raymond Bjugan at Minneola Lutheran Church and, following their marriage, the couple lived in Wanamingo. Raymond died on July 26, 1989. She was a member of Minneola Lutheran Church and was a member of several groups within the church. She loved to cook, attend garage sales and spending time with her friends and family.

Elaine is survived by two daughters: Judith Bjugan, of Red Wing and Deborah (Michael) Banks, of Cannon Falls; one son: Gary Bjugan, of Duluth; four grandchildren: Jessica (Jason) Otto, Jeremy (Erin) Banks, Melissa (Brandon) Brady and Melody Bjugan; eight great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Rachael, her husband, Raymond, one grandson, Hans, and one sister Arlene Olstad.

Visitation will be one hour before the service at the church on Tuesday.
