Eileen Therese Welsch, 87, of Hager City, Wisconsin, died Monday, December 16, 2024 at Deercrest Senior Living in Red Wing. She was born October 25, 1937 in St. Paul to Louis and Margaret Des Lauriers, the 9th of ten children. She graduated from Our Lady of Peace (O.L.P.) High School and she went on to receive her LPN degree from the Miller Hospital School of Nursing and then furthered her education by receiving a bachelor’s degree in social work at the University of Wisconsin, River Falls. On October 12, 1957, she married her soul mate, Jim Welsch at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Mendota, Minn.
While she taught her sons how to polka in the living room, she told them that life is good, to enjoy the dance of life, and keep on dancing as if no one is looking. Love like you will never be hurt and sing like no one is listening. Her profound interest in reading equaled her joy of traveling. She valued simplicity. Her main dedication was to her family.
She is survived by her four sons, Jim (Kathy), John (Sabrina), Matt (Lorri), and Marc (Tonya) Welsch; six grandchildren, Emily, Garrett, Gillian, Maya, Lauren, and Madelyn as well as many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Jim; her parents and nine siblings.
Mass of resurrection will be 11 a.m. Friday, December 27, 2024, at the Church of St. Joseph in Red Wing with Father Brandon Theisen presiding. Burial will be at a later date at the Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, December 26, 2024, at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel and at the church on hour prior to the mass.
