Eileen Searle, 94, of Rochester, died Wednesday (Sept. 5, 2012) at Samaritan Bethany Home on Eighth, where she had resided for the past three years.
Eileen Theresa Peterson was born Aug. 3, 1918 at Miles City, Montana to Emil and Mathilda (Roedel) Peterson. She grew up in Jamestown, North Dakota where she graduated from High School. After graduating from a Music Academy, she taught piano lessons and played piano in a Silent Movie Theater in Jamestown. On Dec. 10, 1939 she married Wayne L. Searle at Osage, Iowa. The couple moved from Faribault to Rochester in 1956 where Wayne was employed at IBM, and Eileen was a homemaker. Together with her husband, she was active in the Rochester Elks Lodge #1091 B.P.O.E., and was a fifty year member of the D.O.E.S. there. Wayne died Nov. 15, 2003. Eileen enjoyed bowling and was an avid Twins fan.
Survivors include three daughters, Elaine (Gene "Chip") Skjeveland of Rochester; Carole Foss of Reno, Nevada; and Ardyce (Bob) Swenson of Stewartville, seven grandchildren, and ten great grandchildren. Eileen was preceded in death by her husband, her twin sister, Ethel, a granddaughter, and a son-in-law.
The family would like to thank the staff and volunteers at Samaritan Bethany Home on Eighth for their superb care, warmth and compassion.
The memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, at Mahn Family Funeral Home - Rochester Chapel with Pastor Jean Boese, Chaplain, officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.
