Eileen G. Gernentz, 100, of Red Wing died peacefully surrounded by family on Friday, October 25, 2024 at the Potter Ridge Senior Living Community in Red Wing, Minnesota. She was born on November 12, 1923 in Red Wing to Otto and Laura (Alms) Mandelkow. On June 20th, 1945 Eileen was united in marriage to Alden Gernentz at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church in Red Wing.
Eileen loved to bake and was best known for her cinnamon rolls, homemade buns, and chicken dumpling soup. She also enjoyed embroidery.
Eileen is survived by her children, Laurie Dosdall of Red Wing, Lynn (Doug) Bush of Lincoln, Nebraska, Nancy (Gene) McMahon of Red Wing, Tim Gernentz of Red Wing, and Tom (Joann) Gernentz of Red Wing; seven grandchildren, Chris, Ryan, Jessica, Jennifer, Jerod, James, and Kiel; and twelve great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Alden; her parents, Otto and Laura; her brother, Milton Mandelkow; her sister, Jean McManimon; and her great granddaughter Lexis Halverson.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, October 31, 2024 at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church in Red Wing with a visitation one hour prior to the service from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. also at the church. Interment will take place at Burnside Cemetery in Red Wing, Minnesota.
