Eileen Ethel Broze, 93, of Red Wing, died Friday, September 29, 2023, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on April 20, 1930, in Red Wing to William and Margaret (Nilan) Wiederholt. She was raised in Miesville and graduated from Red Wing High School in 1948. In 1950, she married Edward Broze and they later divorced. She worked at Bob and Joe’s Restaurant and Nybo’s as a waitress for a number of years before working 16 years at the Red Wing Shoe Company, retiring in 1993. She was a faithful member of the Church of St. Joseph in Red Wing and in her younger years at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Miesville. She belonged to the American Legion Auxiliary and the Senior Center. Eileen enjoyed going on bus trips, square dancing and was a great joke teller and socializer. She was proud of her Irish heritage and was a past Queen 20th. She was an avid Red Wing Aces fan and would attend all the games.
Eileen is survived by her four children, William (Jackie) Broze of Plymouth, Nancy (Bruce) Nadeau of Red Wing, David (Katherine) Broze of Phoenix and Joseph Broze of Mankato; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by parents; two sons, James and Steven Broze; two sisters, Catherine Thygesen and Peg Salmonson and one brother, Raymond Wiederholt.
Mass of Resurrection will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 4, 2023, at the Church of St. Joseph in Red Wing with Father Brandon Theisen presiding. Burial will be at the Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the Mass. Memorials are preferred to St. Croix Hospice. Arrangements are by Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel.
