Edwin B. Redfield

Edwin "Ed" Berdean Redfield, age 91, of Red Wing, died Monday, April 14, 2014, at the Seminary Home in Red Wing. He was born on April 3, 1923, in Clinton, Minnesota, to Carl and Olava (Mickelson) Redfield. He grew up and attended country school in Artichoke Township, where as a young man, he worked on the family farm. He was united in marriage to Iona Sorenson on March 1, 1942, and they made their home in rural Madison, Minnesota. He went on to run his own business, Mr. Ed's Decorating, until he retired in 1988. Iona died in 2004 and he moved to Red Wing to be near family. Ed was a member of Louisburg Lutheran Church and Vasa Lutheran Church. He was an avid reader, liked listening to music and spending time with family.
Ed is survived by his daughters, Wanda (Ron Tlougan) Rehder of Red Wing and Cynthia Lothenbach of St. Paul; six grandchildren, Melissa Rehder, Patrick (Mikky) and Vanessa (Gary) Jeske all of Red Wing, Melinda (Mike) Barnes of River Falls, WI, Eric (Delora) Lothenbach of St. Paul, and Mario (Kelley) Lothenbach of Hudson, WI; twelve great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and relatives. He was preceded in death by his wife, Iona; an infant daughter, Colleen, and eleven siblings.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday, April 18, 2014, at Vasa Lutheran Church, 15235 Norelius Road, Welch, MN, with Reverend Kristi Mitchell officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at a later date at the Louisburg Lutheran Cemetery.
