Edwin G. Darcy, age 87, of Mazeppa died on Tuesday, September 26, 2006 at the Zumbrota Nursing Home. A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Thursday, September 28, 2006 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Bellechester with Fr. Bruce Peterson and Fr. Robert Meyer con-celebrating the mass. Burial will be in the church cemetery with military honors by Bellechester American Legion Post #598. Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday from 5:00 ? 8:00 P.M. at the Mahn Family Funeral Home ? Larson Chapel in Zumbrota with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. and on Thursday one hour prior to the mass at the church. Edwin George Darcy was born on June 7, 1919 on the Darcy family farm in Chester Township, Wabasha County, MN to Edward A. and Mary M. (nee Peters) Darcy. He grew up on the farm and attended country school. On October 17, 1941 he entered the U. S. Army. He served in the Pacific Theatre of Operations during World War II and was honorably discharged on November 16, 1945. After his discharge, he returned to the family farm. Edwin farmed with his brother Lawrence and also worked for Bernard Darcy Construction, working as a heavy equipment operator. Edwin drove semi for Hepplemann Trucking in Bellechester and operated a road grader for Floyd Nardinger doing snow removal and township road maintenance. Edwin enjoyed bowling, working in the farm fields, and fixing and repairing machinery. Edwin was a member of the Bellechester American Legion Post #598. Edwin is survived by one sister, Gertrude Hofschulte of Zumbrota; one brother, Lawrence (Edna) Darcy of Mazeppa; sister in law, Anna Marie Darcy of Mazeppa; nieces and nephews. Edwin was preceded in death by three brothers, Donald, Vincent and Joseph Darcy and three sisters, Ruth Ornstein, Rosella Riley and Margaret Nevinger.
