Edward Arnold Stori

Edward Arnold Stori, age 74, of Las Cruces, New Mexico, died Thursday, April 19, 2012 surrounded by his family in Red Wing, Minnesota. He was born July 6, 1937 in Superior Wisconsin, the son of Arnold and Virginia (Schlumpf) Stori. He graduated from Durand High School in 1955 and attended the University of Wisconsin-Stout for one year before enlisting in the U.S. Navy. During his enlistment he served on the USS Saratoga. After his discharge he went back to school at the University of Minnesota, graduating with a bachelor's degree in business. On June 6, 1959 Ed was united in marriage to Betty Schomburg at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Jordan, Minnesota. The couple raised their two sons, Mike and Mark in the Quad Cities where Ed was employed by John Deere Company for 30 years. After retirement they moved to Scottsdale, Arizona before settling in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Ed was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Las Cruces and president of the Las Cruces Duplicate Bridge Group. Ed was an avid golfer and loved competitive sports, and was a voracious reader, but most of all he loved spending time with his family and being called "Grandpa Honey".
Ed is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Betty; sons, Mike (Mary) Stori and Mark (Dean) Stori; grandchildren, Rachel, Andrew, Nell and Grace Stori; daughter-in-law, Teresa Stori; loving sister, Sara Jane "Sally" Stori of Rochester. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arnold and Virginia Stori.
A Memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Anderson-Peterson Chapel in Lake City, Minnesota with Reverend Barbara von Harren officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials are preferred to Fairview Red Wing Hospice or the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
