Edward Gerald Rutz

E.G. "Jerry" Rutz age 85 of Lake City passed away March 5, 2014 at St. Brigids at High Park in Red Wing.
Jerry was born July 22, 1928 in Kellogg, MN to Edward and Elsie (Schumacher) Rutz. Jerry graduated from Lake City High School. He entered the Army in 1949 and served during the Korean War. Jerry was discharged in 1954 and returned to the Lake City area. Jerry married Norma Kluess July 20, 1957 in Appleton, WI. He worked for the U.S. Postal Service as a letter carrier for 30 years. Following retirement from the Post Office, he was a real estate agent for 15 years.
Jerry was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Lake City VFW Post 8729, Lake City Senior Citizens, and was an early member of the Lake City Sportsman's Club. He was an avid and accomplished flower gardener.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Norma; a daughter, Coleen (Mark) Rieder of Rochester, two grandchildren Nicholas and Claire Rieder; two sisters, Eva Marie Gnotke of Lake City and Donna Mae Holst (Pete Klindworth) of Lake City. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Miriam Kay Rutz.
The Funeral Service will be held Friday, March 14, 2014 at 2:00 PM at St. John's Lutheran Church in Lake City with Rev. Dennis Valleau officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery Lake City.
